Civil Rights Protections (HB2712/SB1416)
Introduced by Senator Rebecca Rios in the Senate and Representative Cloves Campbell in the House, SB 1416 and HB 2712 would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression in employment, housing and public accommodations. State law already prohibits employers, landlords and places of public accommodation from discriminating, but sexual orientation and gender identity or expression are not yet included.

Subject: Support civil rights for all - HB2712 & SB1416
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
Most Americans agree that all people should be guaranteed equal protection under the law. In fact, more than 70% of Arizonans support expanding civil rights protections to include sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.
Right now, it is perfectly legal to fire someone just because they are gay or heterosexual. It is perfectly legal to kick somebody out of their home simply because they are a lesbian or a straight woman. It is perfectly legal to deny someone access to a place of public accommodation just because of their sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.
Everyone should be able to feel safe and secure in their homes, at their places of employment, and in public, regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.
That is why I am asking you to support HB2712 and SB1416.
Sincerely,
|
