Greetings,

Chances are when you read a story about injustices toward Arizona's LGBT community, Equality Arizona was already in the background working hard to secure, protect and defend the rights and welfare of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Arizona.

We sincerely appreciate everyone who has taken the time to send a donation to Equality Arizona during this campaign.  We are making progress in meeting our goal of raising $17,000 before November 15th. Please make your donation of $50, $250, $500, $1,000 or more today.

When the state legislature recently voted to take away health care from state workers, Equality Arizona was the first to expose this horrific action. Working with media throughout Arizona, including many rural areas, we reached an audience of more than 1.2 million people with real stories of how this hateful action affects families and children - right here in Arizona.

Understanding that often LGBT people are stranded at the intersection of politics and religion, Equality Arizona created the Equality Faith Initiative. This important program provides opportunities for dialogue that changes hearts and minds in faith communities. Having served more than 1,000 people through programs so far, our Equality Faith Initiative is embarking on two significant projects.  One project is about developing resources which will aid in further dialogue opportunities.  The second project is a partnership with the Washington, DC based Interfaith Alliance and our partners in Tucson.  This project will bring a national dialogue to Arizona which will serve to propel us forward in our quest to eliminate faith-based discrimination.

Nearly 80% of Equality Arizona's funding comes from individuals like you and me. Equality Arizona stands up for those who cannot stand for themselves.  We are reminded every day that this work is not about us as staff, volunteers or Board members. It’s about the people that will suffer if we don’t step-up and create change.

I hope you will stand with us now to create meaningful, long-lasting change in the hearts of minds of Arizonans.  It is with your generosity that we will continue this journey toward equality.  It is often said that the journey is often more important than the destination. We strive to navigate the tumultuous journey to equality with grace and dignity for all. Most important are the lives we touch every day.  We can never forget our work is not about the words written on a piece of legislation but the impact of those words on humanity.

Please take a moment and hear a few stories of what equality means to Arizonans.  When you have finished watching the stories please take a moment to donate to Equality Arizona. Your support means everything on this journey.

In community,

Barbara McCullough-Jones
