Basic Rights Oregon is the state's largest and most influential GLBT advocacy and education organization. We work at every level for change-from public education to grassroots organizing; from legal and legislative advocacy to defending against anti-GLBT attacks.

This year, Basic Rights Oregon helped to pass two major pieces of pro-equality legislation and now we must work to defend these wins.

1.) Senate Bill 2, makes it illegal to discriminate based on sexual orientation and gender identity in Oregon-in places such as employment, housing and public accommodation.

2.) House Bill 2007, a new law that legally recognizes same-sex relationships via Domestic Partnerships, providing similar basic and vital rights, responsibilities and protections, currently only provided to straight married couples.
