Thank your legislator for standing against hate crimes!
This March, two visitors to Seaside were the targets of a vicious hate crime. They were beaten by four strangers and left unconscious on the beach. Although Oregon has comprehensive hate crimes legislation, many states do not.
This week, the Oregon House voted unanimously to condemn these attacks, and to send a message to Congress: pass the Matthew Shepard Act NOW. The Matthew Shepard Act would provide resources to state and local governments for the investigation and prosecution of bias-motivated, violent crimes.

As your constituent, I am writing to thank you for standing against hate crimes and supporting HJM 22.
Supporting HJM 22 condemned the attacks in Seaside and called upon Congress to pass the Matthew Shepard Act, which provide resources to state and local governments for the investigation and prosecution of bias-motivated, violent crimes.
We all deserve to live free from the threat of violence and because of your support we are one step closer to that reality.
