Greetings, Thank you to all who have contributed to equality in Maine and Washington. We've already raised more than $1000 — but we still have a ways to go to meet our goal of sending another $5000 to these critical campaigns. Combined with the $5000 Basic Rights Oregon is donating, your contributions will make a difference. Two weeks from today, voters in Maine and Washington will decide the future of the marriage equality movement. That's why Basic Rights Oregon has already contributed $5000 to these campaigns and just sent 4 more volunteers and staff to help win in both Maine and Washington. Earlier this month we sent community leader Laura Calvo to Maine and this is what she had to say: "Make no mistake; the opposition will be dumping loads of money and resources into these last days of the campaign to try to take away what has already been won. It is what they did in California with Proposition 8. We must not only counter them every step of the way up until the polls close on Election Day. Oregonians must invest what they can now in this fight to preserve marriage equality." Both campaigns are in the final days of the election and are in need of critical funds to ensure a victory. The opposition has been running deceptive ads in Maine nonstop and in Washington the opposition has been bolstered by a $200,000 donation. Your support goes directly to pay for counter the opposition's lies and get out the vote efforts in Maine and Washington. You can donate directly to these campaigns using our ActBlue site. The fights in Maine and Washington will have a ripple effect across the country. Let's turn that ripple into a a huge wave for equality. No more Prop 8's. Let's protect equality and contribute to today! In solidarity, |
