Domestic Partnership Anniversary Thank You Campaign
It has been one year since the Domestic Partnership Registry began in Washington State on July 23rd, 2007. Since then, over 4,280 couples have registered as Domestic Partners! In 2008, the Legislature passed the Domestic Partnership Expansion Bill, adding an additional 170 rights and responsibilities to registered Domestic Partners in Washington State. It's important that Governor Gregoire, Secretary of State Sam Reed, and your legislators who supported the domestic partnership laws know how much you appreciate their work to achieve these basic advances- even as we continue to push for full marriage equality.
Please take a moment to a thank the Governor, the Secretary of State, and your supportive Legislators. By sending this letter, you will be letting them know of your appreciation AND also that you support full marriage equality. As the 2008 election and legislative session beyond approaches, our elected leaders must know we care deeply about LGBT civil rights.

Talking Points
Take a moment to share why these first steps toward full marriage equality are so important to you in personal terms. Tell a story about yourself or friends or family members who have been helped by the domestic parnership registry!
Tip: If you edit the text of the letter, we encourage you to put your thoughts at the start of the e-mail and edit the subject line.
