The short explanation of this alert was:

Contact the Springfield City Council today.
Ask them to remove the unconstitutional ordinance immediately.

Springfield, MO still has an unconstitutional ordinance on the books. The ordinance reads:

It shall be unlawful for any person in a public place to invite, entice, persuade or to address a person of the same sex for the purpose of inviting, enticing or persuading such person to commit sodomy. Sodomy means any sexual act involving the genitals of one person and the mouth, tongue, hand or anus of another person. Sec. 78-224. Solicitation by homosexuals.

This law has stayed on the books since 1976 even through several legal attempts to clean up unused or illegal code throughout the years. This ordinance is in clear violation of the constitution and must be removed.

Take a moment to contact the Springfield City Council and urge them to show Springfield and the state of Missouri that the Springfield City Council does not condone the discrimination against the people they represent. Urge them to remove this unconstitutional ordinance immediately!
