Historic family protection bill filed- contact your legislators today- with RCE

Legislators have filed a bill (HB 3104, SB 6716) that would significantly increase the number of protections available to our families. This bill is a historic step towards equality while we continue our ongoing fight for equal marriage.

The radical right will be out in force against this bill: they not only oppose marriage, but all basic protections for our families. It is incredibly important that you take a moment and tell your legislators that you support this bill. We need to show the legislature exactly how much strength we have in this movement- this will be a battle, but we can win. We need to support the expansion of the domestic partnership bill to provide protections to our vulnerable families.

Dear [ Decision Maker ],

I am writing in support the domestic partnership bill (HB 3104, SB 6716). This bill increases the protections available to couples who register under Washington State's domestic partnership law passed in 2007. The new legislation provides important rights such as community property.

However, the 2008 domestic partnership bill does not provide gay and lesbian couples all the protections of marriage under state law, nor does make any attempt to confer the over 1,000 federal rights of marriage.
