The short explanation of this alert was:

 On June 14th, the Massachusetts legislature met in the 17th Constitutional Convention to discuss equal marriage.  Thanks to your hard work and the courage of our friends in the legislature to stand for equality, the latest amendment was defeated 151-45.  This amendment only needed 50 votes to advance to the 2008 ballot.  It is wrong on to vote on the rights of a minority and it is wrong to discriminate against the LGBT community.  Please take a moment to thank your legislatures and the governor for protecting marriage equality.
