Dear Family and Friends,

While votes are still being counted, it appears likely that Proposition 8 will pass by just a few points. In 2000, a similar ballot proposition in California passed by nearly 23 points. We were able to make up almost 20 percentage points in 8 years but fell just short of victory this time.

As you know, I was asked to lend a helping hand just a few weeks ago when internal polls had the campaign falling almost 15 points and 10 million dollars behind. I am so proud that this campaign fought back. And, so proud of the honorable way the campaign was conducted.

Every American deserves full equality and I am confident that we will achieve this goal in my lifetime. Your shared commitment to this belief has meant so much to me. Thank you for being a part of that history and thank you for being a part of this campaign.

Needless to say, I am really excited to get back to my real job as executive director of the Gill Action Fund and thrilled that Gill Action's work in New York, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Colorado and Iowa helped realize such solid victories on Election Day.

Dr. Martin Luther King once said "the road to freedom is a difficult, hard road," but we know that tomorrow there is still hope and there is still love and, yes, there is still work to do. With our continued effort and by building on the support generated in this campaign, we will prevail. There will be equality -- for all of us.

Best,

Patrick Guerriero
