It's back... Stop the amendment
It's back! The right wing is once again trying to write discrimination into our state constitution with the anti-gay, anti-marriage constitutional amendment. Take action now: ask your legislators to oppose this divisive and discriminatory bill.

Please oppose the so-called "Defense of Marriage" constitutional amendment. This bill does nothing to defend marriage, but would have devastating consequences for committed same-sex couples who would be denied even the most basic rights and responsibilities.
Our constitution should be about protecting rights, not playing politics.
I ask that you refuse to co-sponsor this bill and oppose any attempt to write discrimination into our constitution.

We've stopped the so-called "Defense of Marriage" amendment for four years running, but the right wing is trying again.
On Wednesday, May 14, Sen. Jim Forrester (R-Gaston) once again introduced this divisive and discriminatory bill.
The bill would write discrimination into our constitution, not only banning access to marriage for same-sex couples, but denying any type of relationship recognition. In fact, it's so broad it could prevent private employers from offer partner health benefits!
We've got to tell our legislators that our constitution is there to protect the rights of all North Carolinians, and they must not play political games with it.
