URGENT: The "Marriage Amendment" is Back
Right-wing state represenatives are attempting to force the anti-LGBT, anti-marriage constitutional amendment out of committee for a vote in the House on Tuesday, May 22. We need your help to make sure they don't have the 72 votes they need to bring it to the floor and pass the amendment.

As a constituent, I'm asking you to oppose the attempt to force the anti-gay, anti-marriage state constitutional amendment to the House floor on Tuesday.
House Bill 493 would write discrimination into our constitution and do real harm to families across our state.
Our constitution should be there to protect our citizens--even unpopular minorities. The constitution should never be used to deny rights.

- It's about more than marriage. The bill would ban any kind of protections for same-sex couples, and could prevent private companies from offering domestic partner health benefits.

- People of faith differ on this issue. The NC Council of Churches and many ministers across our state oppose this amendment.
- The amendment does nothing to address the state's real problems and is not a priority for voters.
