Have you been thinking about volunteering for Equality NC, but haven't had a chance?
Do you want to help us prevent tragedies here in North Carolina, like the recent shooting of a 15 year old gay student in a California school?
NOW is a valuable time to jump in! Help us build our activist base to pass the pro-LGBT anti-bullying bill!
LGBT students desperately NEED YOU. The recent tragic murder of Lawrence King in California has gained a little bit of media attention, but bullying, harassment, and violence against LGBT kids is far more common than the stories we hear about. Lawrence King was bullied and harrased daily and staff and administration refused to stop it.
In order to protect LGBT kids in NC, Equality NC is mobilizing and activating LGBT folks and progressive allies across the state to pass the comprehensive anti-bullying bill. We must counter our radical, anti-gay opponents who make their voices heard loudly in the state legislature.
Next week's "Dialing For Equality" volunteer night will take place on Tuesday, March 11 from 6:00pm until 8:30pm at the office of Sperry and Associates in downtown Raleigh, at 324 South Harrington street (across the street from Humble Pie Restaurant). We'll provide pizza and drinks!
It's easy! We're not calling strangers and we're not asking for money. We're just calling folks who are already members of Equality NC to ensure we have the right contact information and email address on hand for them. This will help tremendously in our effort to pass this bill in a few months. Contact Josh Wynne at (919) 829-0343 ext. 113 or at josh@equalitync.org with any questions.
