Domestic Partnership Expansion 2009
(Special Thank You to the 800 Washingtonians who attended Equality Day in Olympia on March 12th)
In times of economic crisis, it is even more important for all families to be protected. It is simply wrong to deny families access to healthcare, pensions and other protections because the sexual orientation of the couple who forms a family.
This legislative session, we are again be working to expand the rights and responsibilities associated with Washington State's domestic partnership registry. We are also working to build support for marriage equality. Please write a letter in support of DP rights to your elected officials, and take an extra moment to tell your personal reasons for supporting equal rights and responsibilities for all families.
The Domestic Partnership Expansion Bill of 2009 has already passed the Senate by a vote of 30-18. The bill is now in the House. The Governor has said she will sign the bill into law.
