Marriage Myths Busted: Marriage Equality & Public School Education

We recently told you about our online resource, “Same-Sex Marriage Myths Busted,” which dispels eight of the most prevalent misconceptions and falsehoods surrounding the passage of a marriage equality law. We’ve seen misinformation campaigns manipulate the facts on marriage equality in other parts of the country--we’re determined not to let that happen here in New York.

We wanted to alert you to a NEW tool to help us stand up against marriage equality myths. In our new video, New York State's Deputy Secretary for Education dispels the deceptive claims that a law allowing same-sex couples to marry would force young children to be taught about these marriages in grade schools. He explains that there is no state or local requirement that information about marriage of any type be taught in New York public schools, nor would there be any such requirement if marriage equality legislation were passed.
