It's Time to Act: Ask Your Senator to Pass Marriage
The marriage bill (A.7732/O'Donnell)(S.4401/Duane) to provide equal access to
marriage for same-sex couples has just passed the State Assembly
with bipartisan support. This means that once again, the
Assembly has stood on the side of equality and justice for the
LGBT community.
Now, we need the State Senate to
act! We need you to send
the message below to your Senator to let them know that the
time is now for them to support our families and provide
same-sex couples the rights and responsibilities of marriage. We know we’ve asked
you to take action several times in the past few months, and we
can’t emphasize enough how important it is that you
continue reaching out to your Senator – click “Take
Action” below to let them know you want them to support
marriage equality!

Subject: Please vote for marriage for same-sex couples
Dear [decision maker name automatically inserted here],
The bill to provide equal access to marriage for same-sex couples has passed the New York State Assembly. As your constituent, I encourage you to support the marriage equality bill in the Senate (S.4401/Duane) and vote for it when it comes to the floor.
LGBT families should not have to wait any longer for access to the protections of marriage. Same-sex couples should not be treated like second-class citizens in New York--they deserve the 1,324 rights and responsibilities that come with marriage in New York State. As your constituent, I want you to know that this issue is extremely important to me.
I urge you to support and vote for the marriage equality bill, and to advocate for your Senate colleagues to do the same. I will be watching as the legislative session continues to see how you have acted on this issue.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
