Be part of our growing list of sponsors and
table captains!
Please join us as
a sponsor, Table Captain or both at the 2009 Empire State Pride Agenda Fall
Dinner on Thursday, October 22, at the Sheraton New
York Hotel & Towers in New York City. This year has been so
important in our work for equality and justice for lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender New Yorkers. We wouldn’t be at this critical
juncture without the support of donors like you, and we invite
you to help us make history again at our 2009 Fall
Dinner.
Since last year’s Fall
Dinner, we kept our issues top-of-mind with legislators, and
brought over 2,000 people to lobby in Albany on our April 28 Equality &
Justice Day. We
passed all three of our priority bills in the New York State
Assembly—legislation to provide marriage equality for
same-sex couples, ban discrimination against transgender New
Yorkers and make schools safer for LGBT youth—this time
with more bipartisan support than ever.
There is a great deal of work still
ahead of us, and we continue to do what we do
best—mobilizing our allies, meeting with legislators
across the state and building support until we win. Your contributions to
the Fall Dinner support the Pride Agenda’s work across the
state and will help us succeed. We hope you can help us celebrate our progress on October 22 and be
part of this incredible evening!
Our emcee for the event is the
incomparable comedian, actress, writer and activist Margaret
Cho! She is one of the strongest—and
funniest—voices for the community, and promotes equality
regardless of race, sexual orientation or gender
identity.
This year, we are
honored to recognize a family for the first time with our
2009 Douglas W. Jones Leadership Award. The Hathaway
family—actress and
activist Anne, parents Gerald & Kate, and their sons Thomas
and Michael, along with Michael’s husband, Joshua
Lawson—have never shied
away from publicly and vocally supporting LGBT equality. They have lobbied with
us in Albany for marriage
equality; supported and volunteered for numerous LGBT
organizations including PFLAG, the Hetrick-Martin Institute and
the Trevor Project; and worked to defeat Prop 8 in California. Strong families make for
strong communities, and the Hathaway family is helping to make
New
York a better place for all of
us.
Our community and
our allies are energized and ready to take action on the
important work before us. We invite you to join us at the
Fall Dinner and show your support of our
work. With the help of our dedicated Table Captains and
generous sponsors, we will continue to have the resources
necessary to win equality for LGBT New
Yorkers.
- Sign up to be a Table
Captain. While you commit to try to fill a
table of ten, you are only responsible for your own
ticket. We will provide invitations and support to
help you along the way!
- If you cannot join us on October 22,
please consider an advertisement in our
Dinner Journal. Demonstrate that you or
your company proudly supports the Pride Agenda!
Once again, thank
you for helping to make New York a better place!
We look forward to updating you on the event and seeing you on
Thursday, October 22!
