Please take action on HB1 which is the state budget. A number of legislators have been attempting to restore budget cuts to higher education and social services, all as part of the normal budget process. We learned this morning that the Jindal Administration is attempting to ignore the normal budget process, and shove the budget down the legislators throats, through threats and intimidation. Former Governors Buddy Roemer, Dave Treen, Mike Foster, and Kathleen Blanco are all appearing at the Capitol today trying to restore cuts to higher education. Your Representative needs to hear from you on this important issue.

The Jindal Administration's cuts to higher education and social services are not in the best interest of Louisiana. The future of our state is at risk and should not be decided based upon the recommendations of the Governor's national political advisors. I ask that you carefully consider not just budget numbers but also our state's future. A careful and thorough examination of the issues and of all budget amendments is required.

I ask that you do the right thing for Louisiana's people and vote AGAINST HB 1. Thank you.
