Action Alert: Urge Congress to Support Increased Funding for Ryan White Programs in 2010!

Your Member of Congress Will Vote on FY2010 Funding Scheduled for Friday, July 17 (TOMORROW)

Congress has begun the process that will set Ryan White Program funding levels in 2010. Ryan White is the largest source of funding for HIV/AIDS services in Georgia.  Make sure they hear frequently during this process from people living with HIV/AIDS and those who serve them about the importance of funding increases for the Ryan White Program.  Last week, the House of Representatives began its process with the Labor-HHS Appropriations Subcommittee marking up a spending bill that included modest increases for the Ryan White Program. The full House Appopriations Committee is scheduled to markup the spending bill on Friday, July 17, at 9:00am ET.

Action is needed TODAY from Ryan White consumers, providers, and other champions to ensure that Ryan White Programs receive much needed funding increases. The modest increases for the Ryan White Program proposed by President Obama and by the House Labor-HHS Appropriations Subcommittee are well below what is needed to keep pace with the demand for services, especially after years of stagnating funding levels.

Subject: Support Increases for Ryan White Programs in FY 2010

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

As a constituent living in your district, I ask that you make Ryan White Program funding a priority by voting to support the following FY 2010 funding increases:

** Part A: + $103M ** Part B Base: +$105.4M ** Part B ADAP: + $268.6M ** Part C: + $66.4M ** Part F/AETC: + $15.6M

We need these funds to hire more nurses in Georgia so that we can reduce the waiting period for new patient appointments in our primary health care clinics, expand the availability of dental services, and provide much needed transportation to medical appointments.

The Ryan White Program is one of the federal government's most effective programs. The federal Office of Management and Budget found that the Ryan White Program has contributed to the decline in the number of new AIDS cases and deaths due to HIV/AIDS and addresses disparities in access to HIV treatment and care. OMB also gave the program a score of 100% in Program Results and Accountability, making it one of only seven out of 1,016 federal programs to receive that score.

Please support increases for Ryan White Programs in FY 2010.

Sincerely,

Campaign Launched:
