Marriage Discrimination Amendment Hearing

Make Your Voice Heard!  Tell the House Rules & Legislative Procedures Committee Why the Marriage Discrimination Amendment is Wrong for Indiana

A hearing on Senate Joint Resolution 7 , the Marriage Discrimination Amendment, has been scheduled by the House Rules and Legislative Procedures Committee for Wednesday, March 21st, 9:00 am, in the chambers of the House of Representatives.

SJR 7 has been reintroduced by Sen. Brandt Hershman (R-Monticello).  This is the second phase of a four-year process to send it to the voters in a public ballot initiative.  Having passed the Indiana Senate, SJR 7 is now being considered by the Indiana House of Representatives.

Subject:

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I urge you to reject Senate Joint Resolution 7 when it is considered by the House Rules and Legislative Procedures Committee. This proposal discriminates against all couples in committed relationships who are not married, permanently writing discrimination into the Indiana Constitution. SJR 7 is just an attempt to distract Hoosiers from the greater issues at hand and threatens our state's current and future economic development. SJR 7 violates every Hoosier's basic right to fairness and equality.

Sincerely,
