Support Domestic Partner Recognition at the University of Louisville

The University of Louisville Board of Trustees cleared the way for President James Ramsey to implement domestic partner benefits for the university's faculty and staff.

Family Foundation President Kent Ostrander immediately contacted members of his e-mail list, urging recipients to contact Governor Ernie Fletcher, Senate President David Williams, and Speaker of the House Jody Richards. The Family Foundation is calling for the legislature to intervene, and override the Board of Trustees" decision.

With typical anti-fairness disregard for justice and the law, the Family Foundation's "alert" seeks to undermine the power of the university's Board of Trustees. Kentucky statute 164.350 clearly empowers the Board of Trustees—NOT the legislature—to make personnel decisions for the University of Louisville campus.

As usual, Ostrander's comments demean our families as he promotes his radical anti-fairness agenda. He claims that offering domestic partner benefits, "undermines marriage, institutionalizes unhealthy behavior, promotes fraud and will drain huge amounts of dollars from an already strained state budget."

As Fair-minded Kentuckians, we can show our support for U of L's Board of Trustees, AND stick to the appropriate legal channels.

Please use this page to add your name to the petition, saying "thank you" to Louisville's Board of Trustees and urging President Ramsey to implement the policy immediately.
