Dear Friend,

Ad: Gay & Lesbian Film Series at Village 8 Theaters. The Gay & Lesbian Film Series at Louisville's Village 8 Theater wraps up this week with "The World Unseen" and "TransAmerica."

South Africa in the 1950's provides the backdrop for "The World Unseen." Amina is a free spirit and rebel in her South Asian community. When she first sets eyes on Miriam, she is suddenly as shy as a schoolgirl. Miriam is married but fascinated by this unconventional woman who shows her so much attention. Their unexpected attraction pushes Miriam to question the rules that bind her, ad set into motion a chain of events that will change both women forever.

"TransAmerica" begins as Bree's world is turned upside-down, when she receives a phone call from Toby, a jailed teenage runaway looking for his father. She wants nothing to do with Toby, the result of a heterosexual encounter during her life as a man. But under pressure from her therapists, she flies to New York to bail Toby out of jail and subsequently offers him a ride cross-country. As each lies to and manipulates the other, Bree and Toby find themselves on a transformative journey.
