Dear Supporter,
Jason Johnson inspired us all in 2006, when he spoke out
against the injustice of his dismissal from the University of
the Cumberlands, strictly because of his sexual orientation.
The Kentucky Fairness Alliance (KFA) Foundation established
the Jason Johnson Scholarship in effort to honor and support
such bright, energetic young leaders as they pursue their
education.
A $1,500 scholarship will be awarded this year to a Kentucky
student based on social and financial need, scholastic aptitude,
and leadership potential. We pay close attention to students who
have lost the financial and social support of their families
and/or communities as a result of revealing their sexual
orientation or gender identity.
Please share the downloadable scholarship application with
anyone who may be an applicant for this award.
The deadline to submit applications is August 15, 2008. If
you have any questions regarding this scholarship program,
please feel free to contact Jody Cofer electronically at jodycofer@bellsouth.net
or by phone at 270-703-1582.
Your support of this program will not end anti-fairness
extremism in Kentucky, but it will provide support to a student
facing hardships that many of us have already experienced.
In fairness,
Your KFA Team
The Ampersand symbolizes the solidarity we are
building through Friends & Family, and suggests the
inclusiveness we are working toward. It reflects the idea that
no one individual, legislator, organization, or city can carry
all the water for equality. Our success lies in our
solidarity.
