Historic KCHR Resolution

Dear Supporter,

Yesterday, the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights passed a historic resolution in support of a statewide fairness bill that prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

The Kentucky Fairness Alliance applauds the Commission and we ask that you join us in expressing our appreciation, admiration and solidarity.

By adding your name to a community statement of appreciation, you can help us demonstrate our unity and camaraderie with the Commission.

Reinforcing the significance of the Commission’s resolution and the need for a statewide fairness law, yesterday, The Williams Institute* released a report showing that same-sex couples live in every county across our great Commonwealth.  That study was compiled using U.S. Census data and is further evidence of our integral role in the vitality of the Commonwealth’s economy and social fabric.  We must continue to mobilize our resources, educate those around us, and encourage our public officials to stand-up for full civil rights protections in every county in Kentucky.

Thank you for all you do,
The KFA Team

P.S. Stop by the KFA booth tomorrow at Kentuckiana Pride to register for free tickets to see Melissa Etheridge!

*The Williams Institute is a division of the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law that advances sexual orientation and gender identity inclusive public policy through scholarly work.

Ampersand. The Ampersand symbolizes the solidarity we are building through Friends & Family, and suggests the inclusiveness we are working toward. It reflects the idea that no one individual, legislator, organization, or city can carry all the water for equality. Our success lies in our solidarity.

What's At Stake:

Historic KCHR Resolution

The successes we’ve seen this year are encouraging, but much work is left to be done. A statewide fairness law is necessary to ensure that members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community are treated fairly under the law. The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights’ resolution yesterday rallies everyone in the fair-minded community to continue to educate others on the importance of this measure and advocate for its advancement.
