Greetings,

Johnson inspired us all in 2006, when he spoke out against the injustice of his dismissal from the University of the Cumberlands, strictly because of his sexual orientation.

The Kentucky Fairness Alliance (KFA) Foundation acted quickly to establish the Jason Johnson Scholarship in an effort to honor and support such bright, energetic leaders as they pursue higher education. The KFA Foundation will again be awarding the Jason Johnson Scholarship this year.

The KFA Foundation continues our commitment to education by offering two additional scholarships.  The second scholarship to be awarded this year is the Mark England Scholarship named after long-time businessman and social activist Mark England of Louisville.  For the third scholarship, you might recall KFA solicited your help in naming it earlier this month.  After a ton of emails from you, it has been named the "Erika's Hope" Memorial Scholarship after Erika Flynn.  She was an individual with a strong spirit and a lot of hope for a more diverse and loving society.  More about Erika is included in the scholarship details and application document.

These scholarships carry a monetary value of $1,500 each and will be awarded to Kentucky students based on social and financial need, scholastic aptitude, and leadership potential.

Please share the downloadable details and application document with anyone who may be an applicant for one of these scholarships.

The deadline to submit applications is August 14, 2009. If you have any questions regarding our scholarship program, please feel free to contact us.

In fairness,
Your KFA Team
