The MEGA Family Project, Charis Circle, & the Feminist Women's Health Center Present:
Creating a Family: Choices for Prospective LGBT Parents
June 2nd, from 9:15-12:15
In celebration of Georgia's Gay Pride month, the MEGA Family Project is partnering with Charis Circle and the Feminist Women's Health Center to provide our groundbreaking "Creating a Family: Choices for Prospective Parents" workshop. This workshop will provide information from a professional panel about open adoption, international adoption, donor insemination, surrogacy, adopting from the foster care system, and how you can become a foster parent. In addition, the workshop will host a fantastic panel of parents who have experienced the different journeys toward parenthood. Following the parenting option panels, we will host a special session on the legal and psychological issues involved in becoming a parent. We will also host a special time when particpants can visit our family market place to talk to professionals about their services, and get access to other family resources.
This workshop is not one you will want to miss as it is the most comprehensive resource for LGBT family planning. This will offer you a great opportunity to learn about your options so you can make a more-informed decision about whether you want to add a child to your family, and what might be the best route for you or your family.
Childcare will be provided courtesy of Charis. Please e-mail Kathy@megafamilyproject.org to let us know if you plan to bring your child or children. UUCA has great childcare space, so please let us know so we can make sure we have enough childcare workers for everyone's needs.
The workshop is open to everyone! Please rsvp through this website so we can adequately prepare for the day! Though this workshop is free, we will be asking for a $5 suggested donation at the workshop if you can afford it.
