Dear MEGA Supporter,
A big
weekend ahead of us:
Pride and Halloween!

Kid's Halloween Party at Pride,
Saturday, 10-noon
This combination will give us a great opportunity to have
some spooktacular kid's activities at Atlanta Pride. MEGA
will be hosting a Halloween party for our kids at the Piedmont
Park Pavillion closest to the children's playground and the MEGA
booth (B-21). The party is from 10-noon, and will feature
Halloween arts and crafts, popcorn ball decorating, our
Halloween costume parade, live kids' music, and carnival games
afterward. Registration is $10 per family.
Please pre-register so we can make sure we have enough
supplies on hand for your little goblin. To register for the
party, please click here: http://eqfed.org/megafp/events/halloween2009/details.tcl
Volunteer for the kid's Halloween Party by contacting kathy@megafamilyproject.org This
is a great opportunity to bring joy to our children and to meet
other people at the same time.
Donate treats or fun Halloween items for our
Halloween party! Let us know if you can make a donation!
Pride Festival
Parking/Transportation
There is limited parking available. You can sometimes find
free parking in the neighborhoods surrounding Piedmont Park, but
make sure you pay attention to signs about towing/no parking.
There will be several pay lots around the park, usually ranging
from $10-$20. Taking Marta down to the Midtown Station or Art
Center Station is probably your best bet.
MEGA Booth, Saturday and Sunday from
11-6. Located at B-21. Festival Map, click here!
Stop by the MEGA Booth to find out about upcoming events or
to learn more about the MEGA Family Project. We will have
t-shirts and stickers available.
Please consider volunteering for a shift at the MEGA Booth.
We'll train you what you need to know to work the booth, and
your help will be much appreciated (plus you'll get a free MEGA
t-shirt). We need help with the following shifts:
Saturday: 11-1, 1-3, 3-5, 5-7
Sunday: 11-2, 2-4, 4-6
Please let us know if you can help out for a shift at our
booth. You can e-mail kathy@megafamilyproject.org
to volunteer.
Pride Parade, Kicks Off Sunday at
1pm
MEGA will be marching in the Atlanta Pride Parade, and we
would love for you to join us. This year, we will be starting
from Section H in the parade line up. You will want to take the
Marta to the Civic Center stop, and exit toward the intersection
of Ralph McGill and West Peachtree St. Then ask people at the
street level for the direction to Section H. Someone from
MEGA will be at the parade line up from noon on, so you
shouldn't have any problem finding us.
We are encouraging our kids to wear a Halloween Costume to
show off how cute everyone is in the Halloween spirit (we will
have MEGA t-shirts for adults not in costume). For kids 6 and
under, you may want to bring a wagon or something else to pull
them in if their little feet get tired. Decorating wagons or
bikes is always popular. If you plan to march with us, please
e-mail Kathy@megafamilyproject.org
with your t-shirt size. All participants will receive a free
MEGA t-shirt. Plan to meet us by 12:30pm in the parade line
up.
Two parade notes:
1. If it is raining, we will not be marching in this year's
parade (it is not currently forecasted to rain). It is too hard
on our families, and we don't want any of our children getting
sick.
2. If you have trouble locating the MEGA section, or if you
have questions if it is raining, please call Kathy at
404-808-3350.
Happy Pride
