One Iowa, Iowa's largest LGBT advocacy organization, is hosting the 2009 Pride Ride bike ride in Des Moines on Saturday October 10th! This year's routes will start and end at the west enclosed shelter at Union Park which is convienently located next to the Neil Smith Trail. This ride will include a 20-mile and 40-mile bike ride, as well as a two-mile family ride. Following the rides there will be a community picnic hosted by One Iowa in the west shelter. 

The proceeds from the 2009 Pride Ride will go to One Iowa  Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. One Iowa’s mission is to promote equality, including the freedom to marry, for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals living in Iowa through grassroots efforts and education.  On April 3rd 2009, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled in a historic unanimous decision to allow same sex couples the freedom to marry in the state of Iowa.  One Iowa has made a continued commitment to protect this unanimous decision.
