Subject: Release HB 701 & HB 518

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Please release the Missouri Non-Discrimination Act, HB 701, and Missouri Safe Schools, HB 518.

Every day, Missourians face discrimination in the workplace, in housing, and public accommodations. HB 701 can protect our workforce. Every day, Missouri students face bullying and discrimination in schools. HB 518 can protect our students.

We must protect the economy of Missouri by protecting every employee of our very capable workforce. We must protect the future of Missouri by protecting every student.

Each day that Missourians remain without common sense protections is a day too long! Please release both HB 701 and HB 518 and take a stand for every Missourian today.

Sincerely,

Background Information

As the legislative session comes to a close, the Missouri Non-Discrimination Act and Missouri Safe Schools still have not been released by Speaker Richard. Without the movement of these legislative pieces, Missourians will continue to face discrimination without legal recourse.

In the state of Missouri, it is currently legal to fire an employee, deny housing, or deny access to public accommodations based on a person's actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. Without Speaker Richard's release of the Missouri Non-Discrimination Act, HB 701, which would add sexual orientatioon and gender identity/expression to the current Missouri Human Rights Statute, Missourians will continue to remain unprotected.

Across the state, Missouri students face bullying in their schools every day. Without Speaker Richard's release of Missouri Safe Schools, HB 518, which would protect students from bullying and require training for school employees, Missouri students will continue to remain without common sense protections.
