IT’S TIME to advance something positive in Nashville!Contact Metro Council and urge your representatives to support a non-discrimination ordinance that includes sexual orientation and gender identity or expression for Metro government employees. Use this web form to contact the 5 Metro Council Members at Large. Then, be sure to contact your District Council Member. You can find his or her email address here. If you don’t know your District number, you can find it on your voter registration card or you can look it up here.
Dear [ Decision Maker ] , As your constituent, I am writing to ask you to support a non-discrimination ordinance for Metro government employees that includes sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. All Metro employees deserve a workplace free of discrimination in hiring, promotion, and termination--the same policy that already covers our teachers. The ordinance would make Metro more competitive with private employers such as Vanderbilt University, Bank of America, and others that already have such a policy. It would also make Nashville a more welcoming city. I urge you to support this ordinance when it is introduced.
Sincerely, |

We’ve waited patiently since 2003 when a non-discrimination ordinance was defeated. Our community was actively involved in Metro elections in 2007. We have laid the groundwork by becoming a more visible and active community and gained more allies.
