Support a Non-Discrimination Ordinance for Chattanooga
Chattanooga RiverfrontDear Friend,

Based on the composition of the new City Council, we believe it is time to explore the possibility of advancing a non-discrimination ordinance in Chattanooga that protects city government employees from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.  You may have heard that similar measures passed in Shelby County and in Metro Nashville earlier this year.

Knowing that we have supporters on the City Council is only the first step.  The next step involves identifying support in the community.  If we are going to ask our friends in government to stand up for us, we must stand with them.

As we move further in the process, we will ask you to share stories of job discrimination to make the case for the ordinance.  We will also ask you to contact city officials to show your support.  But for now we are just checking to see whether there is interest in Chattanooga’s GLBT community for this effort.

Passing this ordinance will take work.  Let’s take steps together to fight for this legislation that will advance equality in your community.

Yours,

H.G. Stovall
