Non-Discrimination Ordinance is signed into
law. |
| | If want to do even
more, you can become a Protector for $50, an Advocate for $100,
a Supporter for $500, or a Crusader for $1000. And if you
can’t give a lot at one time but would like to set up a
monthly contribution, you can now do so here.
Here’s what the
contributions of TEP members allowed us to do in 2009:
- Hold off discriminatory
legislation in the General Assembly like the adoption ban and
the Don’t Say Gay bill
- Assist other organizations in
advancing a state hate crimes bill that includes gender identity
and expression
- Pass non-discrimination measures
in Shelby County and in Metro Nashville that protect government
employees from discrimination based on sexual orientation and
gender identity
- Lay the groundwork for
non-discrimination ordinances in Memphis and Chattanooga
- Lay the groundwork for equality
in hospital visitation throughout Tennessee.
Membership in TEP gives us the power to make progress in a
political environment that is often hostile We are gaining
ground, but we won’t be able to do as much without
adequate funding to lobby and organize for equality around the
state. With local committees all the way from the
Tri-Cities to Memphis, we have people ready to do the
work. I ask you to join TEP as a volunteer and a
contributor so that we can continue to change the laws of our
state and local governments.
Please, stand with us and
become a member today. | Thank
you,
 H.G. Stovall President
